Summary of Position
ACWIS is seeking an experienced, energetic, strategic Director of Annual Giving to join its Operations team. Reporting to the COO/COS, this newly created position offers a unique opportunity to oversee and expand the organization’s Annual Giving program while playing a key role in ACWIS’s bold multi-billion dollar global campaign that will engage donors worldwide. The Director of Annual Giving will offer vision, strategic planning, and implementation, with an emphasis on retaining, renewing and securing new annual giving donors. The role offers a blend of administrative and non-administrative responsibilities. The Director will be able to bring creativity and entrepreneurial spirit to a young and growing annual giving program that has tremendous potential.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy

- Accountable for designing and executing a strategy to grow ACWIS’s annual giving program to achieve annual fundraising goals. Set and periodically review and adjust annual giving goals, strategies and objectives that are designed to increase total dollars raised.
- Responsibility for the development, creation, and implementation of new and ongoing initiatives to increase acquisition, retention, maximize revenue, and grow the American Committee’s pipeline of new and recurring annual donors.
- Evaluate opportunities to upgrade annual giving donors to Major Gift portfolios and Planned Giving opportunities, collaborating across teams to elevate annual donors appropriately.
Operations

- Responsibility for managing vendor relationships including creative and distribution channels.
- Create and manage a comprehensive annual giving fundraising plan.
- Creation of an appeal strategy schedule to increase donor retention and acquisition rates through direct mail, email, and online appeals, in collaboration with Marketing and Communications departments.
- Identify opportunities to leverage strategic use of donor audience segments and potential utilization of analytical AI vendors to assist in strategic segmentation of prospects and donors.
- Identify metrics and reports to evaluate the effectiveness of the annual giving program to drive data-driven decision making.
- Manage tracking systems for annual giving donors, records and files, and ongoing statistics, ensuring all annual giving transactions are accurately recorded, tracked and measured within the CRM.
- Develop and maintain annual giving budget with oversight of Chief Operating Officer/Chief of Staff.
Key Qualifications

- Minimum of five years of experience leading a successful annual giving program
- Must have a proven track record of annual giving growth achieved through the candidate’s leadership of the annual giving program.
- Ability to think and work strategically. Proven record of managing time, resources, and budgets to maximize fundraising results.
- Strong analytic skills with high proficiency designing reports and tracking data to guide decision making.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Skill in successfully managing multiple projects on tight deadlines and under pressure in a fast- paced environment.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of productivity.
- Openness to new ideas and their implementation. Ability to react and adapt to changing situations appropriately.
- Solutions-oriented team member who can be highly responsive to donor, staff, and volunteer needs. Highly collaborative with a customer service orientation.
- Superb verbal and written communication skills.
- The ideal candidate will bring experience gained from more than one organizational setting.
- Unquestionable integrity and commitment to professional ethics, and the ability to responsibly handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to grasp and articulate complex programs to be able to convey them in writing and verbally.
- A creative, enthusiastic team member with a passion for, commitment and interest in science is a plus.
- Experience working with Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM required.
- Experience interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience designing and launching new engagement programs.
