Today he teaches parents around the world how to lull their babies and toddlers to sound, calming sleep, but before Dr. Harvey Karp became an expert on getting children to close their eyes, Dr. Karp recalls an eye-opening experience that first revealed the wondrous, scientific world around him.
“I remember when I was a bespectacled 9 years old, walking home from school in the fall. I walked through a park every day and the late September leaves were full of deep reds and golden yellow. I remember walking through the trees and taking off my glasses...the leaves suddenly burst into beautiful splashes of color and light. And I was intoxicated with the lush beauty and fascinated with my ability to so abruptly and radically change the way the world looked.”
Karp, a Weizmann Advocate for Curiosity, is a leading pediatrician, UCLA professor, and the bestselling author of The Happiest Baby on the Block and The Happiest Toddler on the Block.
