Experiencing the Weizmann Institute’s Clore Garden of Science
Plans are already in high gear for the second annual Science Education Week, which will take place this year from April 3-9. More than 60 events are planned for the special week, and will take place not only on the Weizmann Institute of Science campus and in its area, but all around the country. Guided tours and special activities will be offered in science museums, including the MadaTech in Haifa, the Carasso Science Park in Beer Sheva, the Bloomfield Science Museum in Jerusalem, the Clore Garden of Science at the Weizmann Institute in Rehovot, and others. Popular science lectures, hands-on activities, and demonstrations will take place around the nation, including in several malls.
International teams will be participating in the annual Shalheveth Frieir Physics Tournament – a safe-cracking competition that tests contestants’ physics knowledge. Other highlights include “back to school” and “giving back to the community” projects, and a national science education conference that will take place at the Weizmann Institute.
Science Education Week was initiated last year to celebrate the jubilee of the Weizmann Institute’s science education activities. This year, the Davidson Institute of Science Education, the educational arm of the Weizmann Institute, is organizing the events, together with Israel’s Ministry of Education, Atidim, the Trump Foundation, Bar-Ilan University, Space IL, and others.
Organizations, companies, and individuals are invited to participate in organizing activities for this exciting week. For more information please contact Julia Sagalin at the Davidson Institute of Science Education, 08-9376993, or julia.sagalin@weizmann.ac.il.
