Weizmann Global Gathering 2014: Partners in Scientific Advancement, Prof. Eytan Domany

The always-entertaining Prof. Eytan Domany explains why he left his “comfortable post as a theoretical physicist to jump into the turbulent waters of computational biology”: the deciphering of the human genome. Speaking at the Partners in Scientific Advancement session of the 2014 Global Gathering, he provided an overview of modern genomic research, which began with the publication of the genome’s “text” in 2001 – a feat so monumental that it immediately led to big excitement, big data, and big hope for medicine. Since then, there have been many advances – technological, computational, and scientific – and they are coming ever faster.
