Weizmann Institute 2018 Year at a Glance

Four of the Institute’s newest recruits—Drs. Amir Abboud, Yaron Antebi, Noam Tal Hod, and Sergey Semenov—kick off this review of the Weizmann Institute’s phenomenal progress in 2018. They lead us into the David Lopatie Conference Centre, where we’re introduced to other new faculty members who came aboard this year: Drs. Moran Shalev-Benami, Naama Kanarek, Filipe Natalio, Serge Rosenblum, Sivan Refaely Abramson, Giora Alexandron, and Yael Kiro.

We learn about renovation projects, such as the Stone Administration Building, as well as new offices and institutes, including the Gershon Kekst International Office. 2018 also marked five years since the establishment of the Nancy and Stephen Grand Israel National Center for Personalized Medicine (G-INCPM). Noteworthy breakthroughs took place in areas ranging from malaria to cancer to nutrition, and Weizmann scientists collaborated with researchers at Caltech, MIT, the Technion, and the University of Michigan. The international Weizmann Institute family celebrated their achievements at the Global Gathering in Boston. It was a busy year, and we look forward to even more progress in 2019.
